Somatic Informed Therapy

My work recognises the importance of exploring the way in which a client’s symptoms of distress manifests in their body and how this can inform their current understanding of the challenges they are currently facing.

Somatic Therapy is based on the recognition of the relationship between psychological challenges and the sensations experienced within the body. Establishing a felt connection to the sensations in the body often enables a part of the process of healing from its associated trauma to occur.

Through the use of IFS strategies that incorporates Somatic techniques to gain information of a client’s experience, their relationships with different parts of themselves are able to be properly understood. This then enables their guidance towards healthier relationships with one another and a more harmonious system as a whole.
